PMC-Sierra is currently looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our Communications Products Division at our Operations headquarters located in Burnaby, BC, Canada.

Responsibilities
Here’s what we’re looking for from our talented new Product Development Engineer:
- Specification, design and implementation of communication semiconductor devices including: RTL development in VHDL or Verilog, floor planning, device and block level verification, synthesis, physical layout support, static timing analysis and DFT
- Design and implementation of verification testbenches and bus-functional models in Specman/TCL/VHDL/Verilog using best-in-class verification methodologies such as eRM. Use metric-driven and constrained random-driven verification techniques to help ensure first-pass working silicon
- Development and execution of verification test plans to verify complex digital block-level or sub-system level designs (100K to 10M+ gates)
- Support of products from specification through to production by interacting with engineers in Validation, Applications, Product Marketing and Production
- Participate with the internal development community in the continuous improvement of the design and verification methodology
Qualifications
This position requires at least BSc. EE and 3-7 years of ASIC development experience in a fast-paced environment. Our top candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Proven project management and planning skills
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills and the ability to proactively solve issues.
- Proven ability to thrive on, learn and adapt to new methodologies and technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- The ability to work autonomously
- Prior experience on a product that has shipped in significant quantity
- Depth and breadth of experience with all phases of the ASIC flow: design, verification, implementation, DFT, layout
- Experience with designs at 90nm and lower technologies (an asset)
- Thorough understanding of communication protocols such as Ethernet, OTN, SONET/SDH and others
- Strong scripting and programming skills. Experience using Verilog/VHDL, Tcl/Perl, Specman is required.
- Experience with Synopsys or Cadence tool flow
- Experience working with verification tools such as Enterprise Planner/Manager, Cadence NC-Sim, waveform viewers, and other similar tools
- Proven track record of designing, implementing and debugging Specman based verification environments following the eRM methodology (an asset)
