CEO, BC Innovation Council

The BC Innovation Council (BCIC) is a crown corporation with a mandate to foster the growth of BC's sciences and technology industry through access to technology leaders, mentors, technology education and funding.

Key Deliverables:

The success for the incumbent CEO will be measured by the execution and success of the following programs and responsibilities

1. BCIC New Ventures Competition
2. The Connect! annual networking event.
3. The Entrepreneurship@UBC, Entrepreneurship@UVIC, Entrepreneurship@SFU, and Entrepreneurship@Wavefront programs.
4. Venture Mentorship Service (VMS)
5. Establishing and maintaining relationships with government offices, industry associations, boards of directors, funding entities, and industry leaders.

Requirements:

1. Technology industry veteran with credibility among industry stakeholders.
2. Extensive experience providing executive support and strategic advice to independent Councils and Boards.
3. Extensive knowledge of current and developing science, technology and ecomonic issues and trends
4. Expertise in communications and key issues effecting public awareness.
5. Ability to foster effective working relationships with peers, subordinates, government officials and external contacts.
6. A proven track record of collaboration and team building across multiple organizations.
7. Previous international business experience in the technology sector would be considered and asset.
8. University degree in a relevant discipline and significant experience in the technology industry
