The Position:
The Senior Information Security Analyst and System Administrator position involves working directly with business and IT on all security-related matters. A large portion of this position will require the ability to determine compliance to security standards and best practices for new applications and infrastructures.
A Successful Candidate will:
• Provide security-related advice, assistance and approval to IT project teams in order to establish security compliant designs for applications and acquired security components.
• Act as a liaison between security, business owners, clients and system managers.
• Perform in-depth security reviews for all projects/applications that are deployed in our environment.
• Ensure all Internet-facing applications do not cause any undue risk to our business.
• Perform regular vulnerability scans and provide reports on all our system to ensure our systems are secure.
• Advocate corporate information and enforce security policy and procedure to internal and external clients, customers, users and staff.
• Monitor for the occurrence of security incidents using available software tools, logs and other sources.
• Provide documentation related to investigations, including steps taken and conclusions reached.
• Develop, document and implement data security procedures that enforce information security standards.
• Investigate security incidents utilizing forensically sound methods.
• Develops security project schedules and documentation as needed.
• Develops security recommendations and plans for implementation.
• Maintain security standards guidelines and procedures that are appropriate and consistent across the company.
• Monitor and ensure compliance and protection of business critical information and intellectual property.
System Administration related role:
• Maintain, troubleshoot and administer servers in test and production environments.
• Evaluate and install computer hardware, operating systems and other software.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
• Harden servers based on established security standards.
• Research and recommend solutions to the overall efficiency and performance of our systems and applications.
• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
• Administer AD user accounts, rights, security and distribution groups, securing resources with NTFS and file permissions.
• Perform work at the datacenter as needed.
• Meticulously document procedures and solutions.
• Provide solutions to complex problems raised by clients and staff.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree, with minimum of three years experience in a security analyst capacity for medium to large companies with a complex network environment.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Strong understanding of system and network security weaknesses, vulnerabilities and remediation.
• Strong understanding of Unix and Windows security and administration issues and concerns.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and technologies including Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Group Policies, Exchange and MSSQL.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and firewalls.
• Strong familiarity with security issues surrounding network computing and experience in implementation of security systems and controls.
• Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively at all levels of the organization with all classifications, including the very technical.
• Knowledge of security auditing processes.
• Knowledge of network and host security assessment tools.
• Formal training or commensurate work experience in security tools (scanners, Intrusion Detection Systems, and security analysis tools).
• Expert knowledge of information security issues, trends and leading practices.
• Solid understanding of information security projects and implementation.
• Strong understanding of email routing protocols including SMTP and IMAP.
• Interpersonal and relationship management skills - how to interface to technical administrators, senior IT and Business Management.
