Online & Social Media Manager for Innovative Media Company

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Do you tweet and use Facebook frequently? Is building your social community second nature to you? Do you have a sense of why feeds are important? Are you a passionate storyteller who has embraced the Internet as a new way of telling stories through: blog posts, videos, images and tweets?

Paperny Films and Invoke Media can offer you the opportunity to marry your excitement about social media with your love of storytelling.

We are looking for a social media professional who can manage Paperny’s social media presence, in addition to managing our new online community, Eat St. Tweet, which we are launching together with Invoke Media this spring.


QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The right candidate:

• Must be an experienced communications professional with at least 2 years of experience working in social media and web 2.0
• Be highly skilled in maximizing all social media platforms including YouTube, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Flickr, Forums, Twitter, Wikis, blogs, etc…
We’re looking for a social media addict who maintains a personal mix of participatory expertise from among these channels
• Be a food enthusiast (though you may or may not have worked in a food-related field)
• Already participate in other online communities and probably already have a blog
• Understand how to engage with, and build, online & broadcast audiences. Knowledge of the Canadian broadcast industry an asset
• Possess a demonstrated ability to follow marketing strategy and then drive that strategy proven by testing and metrics
• Have experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing
• Possess functional knowledge or some experience with HTML/CSS EXPAND with proficiency on MAC and PC
• Be an excellent writer who can craft a fluid, engaging blog post or a hilarious 140 character tweet
• Be eager to meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility
• Know how to work independently and structure your own work, but also enjoy working with a larger team
• Be able to communicate results to management in a fast-paced environment

ABOUT THE JOB

We are offering a chance to play an influential role in two different companies. At Paperny, you will be working with a successful production company as it accelerates its involvement in online media – and you’ll help shape the evolution of our increasingly web-oriented business. At Eat St. Tweet you’ll be part of an exciting joint venture between Paperny and Invoke Media, the creators of Hootsuite and one of Vancouver’s great social media success stories. Our two companies will offer you lots of support in honing your storytelling and social media skills, and you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with both of our teams.

This is a full-time, one-year contract with the possibility of renewal. Salary is competitive with other online social media manager positions.

Start Date: January 2011
