The primary responsibility of the Store Manager is to oversee store operations and human resources within the assigned location(s), and to ensure that the assigned contribution, sales goals and all other store activities are achieved.





Job Objective


• To maximize the sales and profitability of the store by achieving and surpassing planned sales, productivity and shrink goals.


• To create a store environment that reflects the company philosophy of exceptional customer service.


• To provide the coaching and leadership required to ensure the successful achievement of each associate’s and assistant manager’s personal sales productivity standards.


• To maintain the day to day operations of the store, and constantly monitor results compared to operating budgets.





Job Responsibilities


• Monitoring sales and statistics (sales goals, average sales, items/sale), provide coaching/support to the staff, and developing action plans in order to achieve sales and productivity plans for each associate and the store as a whole.


• Ensure that the store team is properly trained and scheduled according to budget and sales trend requirements.


• To be knowledgeable of the store’s customer profiles, target market and competition, and ensure that the sales team is also informed of this information at all times.


• Ensure that shipments are being processed effectively and on a timely basis in the store.


• Replenishment programs are carefully monitored to ensure maximum productivity.


• Liaise with the District Manager on daily/on-going basis to ensure that appropriate merchandise selections are in the store.


• Ensure that daily, weekly and monthly housekeeping/cleaning guidelines are consistently performed within the store.


• Ensure that each sales associate and the assistant store manager (the entire store team) are fully cognizant of product knowledge which will ensure exceptional service for our valued customers.





Ensures the store’s productivity goals are met or surpassed by:





• Controlling the payroll hours and over time costs by scheduling staff efficiently (according to store traffic, sales goals and training).


• Implementing loss prevention action plans and educating the store team on how to minimize shrinkage.


• Managing inventory and monitoring merchandise transfers between locations.


• Coaching store team on how to avoid operational and administrative errors.


• Demonstrate creative and effective recruitment and interviewing skills, and ensure that you have a qualified pool of candidates readily available.


• Ensuring that standards and events are executed in a timely manner according to H.O. directives.


• Ensure that store team develops proficiency in in-store marketing and basic visual presentation with the aid of the visual merchandiser or DM.


• Manage stock maintenance and in-store marketing, according to H.O. directives.


• Plan regular, effective staff meetings to discuss store results and ideas.


• Effectively monitor employee performance by using all tools available.


• Understand and apply the procedures for progressive discipline fairly and effectively.


• Complete the orientation program for all new store hires within the planned time frame and ensure that their progress is being monitored.


• Build and maintain employee files with accurate and factual information.


• Manage payroll by verifying payroll entries to minimize errors and monitor productivity.
