The Freight Handler reports to the Freight Handling Supervisor. They are responsible for ensuring that product is unloaded from trailers within an allotted time frame. This involves complying with all HACCP required procedures and documentation, reading the product sheet, pulling product off of the trailer with a forklift, a pallet-jack or manually, checking the ti-hi sheet against the product to ensure that the product received is correct, the breaking down of pallets according to the specified load requirements, and staging the pallets fully wrapped on the dock floor to be received and put away. These tasks must be completed in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
1. Performing the efficient unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, in accordance with the highest possible levels of quality.
2. Ensure inbound freight is broken down accurately and free of damage.
3. Responsible for communicating clearly with supervisor and co-workers.
4. Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
5. Attach identifying tags to loads, or mark them with identifying information.
6. Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or office, and return them after use.
7. Perform the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment including daily inspections
8. All employees are responsible for verifying product quantities.

I am a 36 year old physically disabled male looking to hire a personal caregiver, preferrably an energetic person of similar age or younger.

Location: a house in a residential area in north Burnaby, not far from Simon Fraser University.

Schedule: Thursdays and Fridays 9 am to 6 pm, with some flexibility to stay longer. Starting November 19th.

Requirements: Knowledge of First Aid and CPR; General physical fitness for doing transfers (using a lift) and physio (mainly range of motion excercises); Familiarity with or readiness to learn trach care (cleaning and changing dressings), suctioning, and patient care equipment such as ventilators, lifts, and suction devices (including cleaning them).
Experience is an asset but training will be provided as needed.

Other skills/tasks: food preparation and assistance in feeding, personal hygiene, administering medication, light housekeeping (a bit of cleaning and some dusting), a driver's license and willingness to drive a van, providing companionship.

Some higher education is much appreciated.

Non-smokers preferred.
