BCSPCA seeks contract workers (Lower Mainland)

Interested in teaching children about animal welfare while earning some extra money?

The BCSPCA Humane Education department is seeking part time contract workers in the Lower Mainland to work as hosts for specialized youth events (workshops, birthday parties, kids days, etc.) at our Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, and Port Coquitlam locations.

The events take place on Saturdays and Sundays, and occasionally Friday evenings (Richmond and PoCo only). Pay is $50 per 4-hour shift. We ask that each employee commit to a minimum of 1-2 shifts per month, but where and when are up to you. Flexibility is the name of the game, and we do our best to work around our hosts' busy schedules.

Ideal candidates:

-Have experience with children and/or animals (strong preference will be given to those who have experience with both)

-Possess a strong knowledge of animal welfare issues

-Are fun and upbeat with a positive attitude

-Are reliable with a strong work ethic

-Are able to work independently

-Have access to a vehicle (a plus, but not necessary)

This job is perfect for people looking to gain experience in a variety of related fields including education and animal welfare. That said, we'd love to hear from any passionate individuals looking to make a difference in the lives of animals through humane education. There may be opportunities for more consistent part time work in the near future.

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone that you know who might be interested!

Training will be held in November, and there are multiple job openings as we strive to accommodate the growing demand of our youth programs. We welcome all applications but only those applicants selected for interviews will be contacted. If interested, please send your CV and a cover letter to cmclagan@spca.bc.ca. For more information, please email at the above address or phone the BCSPCA Lower Mainland Education Coordinator at 778-331-2189.

Thank you for your interest!
