What you will be doing



As our Payroll and HR Coordinator you would be responsible for administering and managing the payroll and benefits functions, responding to all employee enquiries, managing employee orientation and ensuring the maintenance of employee confidential information. Your responsibilities would include:




  • Processes semi-monthly payroll for approximately 85 employees nationally (6 provinces)

  • Handles year end processes

  • Determines and maintains employee leave entitlements

  • Liaises with benefits administrator to set up and remove employees from benefits

  • Reconciles monthly benefits invoice

  • Responds to employee payroll, benefits and HR enquiries

  • Compiles payroll journal entries monthly

  • Works closely with Accounting to support the salaries and benefits portion of the annual budgeting process

  • Provides monthly variance analysis to Accounting for salaries and benefits

  • Reconciles CRA source deduction, government and other payroll account(s)

  • Administers and manages the single-employee pension plan

  • Manually processes director honorariums for 4 affiliated Boards of Directors

  • Leads in the maintenance of accurate employee data through HRIS

  • Manages employee data on various HR systems

  • Ensures that the payroll function meets internal and external audit requirements.

  • Manages a comprehensive employee orientation program to ensure consistency nationally

  • Assists with project-related Human Resource duties as required (including overall responsibility for recruiting co-op positions)

  • Certified Payroll Manager from Canadian Payroll Assocation

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources

  • Minimum of 3 years payroll experience

  • Experience with full cycle payroll

  • Experience with ADP

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience working in a national payroll setting (an asset)
